One thing’s for sure… School isn’t just about reading, writing and arithmetic anymore. My kids are being indoctrinated. They come home with so much garbage in their heads. They seem so eager and so ready to believe and embrace absolutely everything they read or hear (except the truth).

This is going to be the major emphasis of our conversations at home for the foreseeable future: To instill in them that an education is important and something to be grateful for and made the most of, but that anything that goes beyond HOW to read, HOW to write, HOW to do math, etc, is something they really need to be praying about, and bringing home and discussing with us.

Hi Mel :)

Great idea!

Children have to be moulded when they are young and shown the right direction. Without proper guidance, they will drift like a ship without rudder. Parents have a very big responsibility.

Very thoughtful post!

Have a great day :)

Thanks, Joseph! Yes, the responsibility of parenting is sobering. I continually pray that God will grant me wisdom and joy in this eternally important endeavor. :)

You have a great day, too!

Hi Mel,
I share your frustration with our schools, but have no fear, in a loving, nurturing home, they will learn at heart level what they live. When we love and nurture them we earn more respect than their teachers, which gives us all the power.
God bless,
Fred

Fred speaks words of wisdom. When a child is taught by words and example from those who love him; he is mighty to stand against the lies that the world feeds him and he is also equipped to expose the lies by sharing the truth.

Encourage your children to question, think, and ponder. Fear not what they are exposed to for you have no control of that. The best defense against the enemy is knowing all of his tactics and yet not being sucked into the lies.

Don't wrap them in cotton, clothe them in the armor of truth and most of all spend time with them discussing reality!

Great posts (all of them)

Fred, and my wonderful friend who chooses to comment anonymously, thank you for both of your comments. I'm going to share them with my kids.

What grieves and breaks my heart is that our home is not a loving and nurturing home. It is on some levels, but mostly our home has been full of strife, contention, bickering, arguing, judgment, criticism, and every other thing that tears people apart and leads them away from God instead of bringing them together and drawing them towards God. May He have mercy on me and give me the grace to influence the atmosphere in our home, respectfully, with His love and truth.
